About ORP

Olive Ridley Project (ORP) is dedicated to protecting sea turtles and their habitats through rescue and conservation medicine, scientific research, and educational outreach. From treating injured and sick sea turtles to advancing research and awareness of sea turtle populations, health, and ocean threats, our work is guided by a One Health approach that recognises the interconnectedness of wildlife, people, and the marine environment.

We are a growing and ambitious charity at the forefront of sea turtle conservation, working alongside fishing communities, researchers, and policymakers to create practical, evidence-based solutions to some of the most complex challenges facing our oceans. At the heart of ORP is a passionate, collaborative team united by a shared purpose and a deep respect for the natural world.

Headquartered in the UK, with field bases in Kenya, Maldives, Oman, Pakistan, and Seychelles, we combine global reach with local partnerships to deliver meaningful, lasting impact for sea turtles and the ecosystems they help sustain.

ORP is a registered charity in England & Wales #1165905, the Republic of Maldives Cr/04/2022 (ORP-Maldives), and Kenya GO-EPFPJ6 (ORP-Kenya).

About the position

We are seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and highly organised Educator & Volunteer Coordinator to join our team at the Sea Turtle Health Institute of the Maldives (STHI) – our flagship campus for clinical care, professional training, and ocean health research.

In this role, you will lead all educational and outreach activities at the STHI and coordinate ORP’s volunteer and veterinary training programmes in the Maldives. You will be responsible for the effective delivery of all education, guest engagement, and event-related activities at the STHI, alongside the administrative, operational, and coordination functions required to support ORP’s volunteer programmes. The role also involves building strong relationships with guests, partners, and stakeholders, and maximising fundraising opportunities by actively promoting and driving uptake of the turtle patient adoption programme to support the ongoing operation of the STHI.

This position is ideal for someone with strong communication skills, exceptional organisational abilities, and experience in environmental education or a related field. The ideal candidate is a confident and engaging communicator, able to connect with and inspire diverse audiences, and will carry out all duties with professionalism, accuracy, and timeliness, while undertaking additional responsibilities as reasonably requested, consistent with organisational needs and their skill set.

  • Volunteer & Veterinary Training Programme Coordination
    • Coordinate ORP’s volunteer and veterinary training programmes in the Maldives, from application through to completion.
    • Manage scheduling, bookings, logistics, and participant communications, liaising with resorts and internal teams.
    • Oversee application review, payments, CRM tracking, and participant records.
    • Arrange travel, accommodation, and visa processes, and act as the in-country point of contact.
    • Plan and oversee daily activities for volunteers and trainees in collaboration with the veterinary team.
