Randoo’s story

Randoo is the local Dhivehi name for the Red Mangrove – one of the mangrove species found in Addu Nature Park where she was discovered. She was found motionless near the Bedhi Canoe Jetty at Addu Nature Park, an area known as a feeding ground for both green and hawksbill sea turtles. She was discovered by staff who promptly informed the park rangers and called our emergency hotline. The team at Addu Nature Park provided updates to our Maldives team while receiving protocols and instructions to arrange her safe transfer to our Marine Turtle Rescue Centre in Baa Atoll.

Randoo was admitted to our Rescue Centre on 27th July 2025. Following a comprehensive medical examination, our veterinary team discovered she had ingested two fishing hooks. Sadly Randoo was not able to survive her injuries, and she passed away on the 30th July 2025.
