Professor Michael Sweet is a multi award winning researcher, lecturer, innovator, and entrepreneur. He is the head of the Nature-based Solutions Research Centre at the University of Derby. He is also the co-founder of Coral Spawning Lab, BlueBiome, and Ocean Guard.
Since completing his PhD in 2011, he has published more than 150 papers in peer reviewed journals, authored both textbooks and children’s books, and spoken at numerous international conferences and workshops.
Professor Sweet has been associated with the Olive Ridley Project since meeting founder Martin Stelfox in the Maldives over a decade ago. He concluded his service as a trustee after reaching the charity’s term limit, and continues to support the charity as a Scientific Advisor.
