Why do sea turtles matter?
The ocean – our planet’s life support system – gives us half the air we breathe and shields us by absorbing vast amounts of carbon dioxide. Yet it is in crisis. Every creature plays a role in keeping this blue heart of Earth alive, and sea turtles are among its most vital guardians. Today, most of the world’s seven sea turtle species are threatened with extinction.
Sea turtles have graced our planet for over 120 million years, but today they face unprecedented dangers, including entanglement in marine debris, illegal take, bycatch, and the destruction of their feeding and nesting habitats. By protecting them, we’re not just saving a species – we’re protecting the ocean that gives us food, oxygen, and life itself.
Your donation will support Olive Ridley Project’s mission to protect sea turtles and their habitats through:
- Rescue and conservation medicine
