Naoko

Turtle ID Code: GR73

Naoko is a really big female who was first photographed in Kuredu Lagoon back in February 2014, when she was much smaller and younger looking! Since then she has been a regular to the lagoon where she enjoys eating the seagrass, and is usually found in the same small area of the large lagoon, so she is easy to find!

However, in May 2021 we could not find Naoko anywhere. This was was worrying, as she is usually a regular. Six months later she reappeared covered in barnacles, including three in a row on her head! We deduced that she had likely completed a nesting migration, and had returned safe and sound to her chosen home. She has gradually managed to scratch off all the barnacles she picked up on her journey, and we await to see when she will be ready to go on another migration.
