Afrah is the Co-Founder of Zero Waste Maldives, where he leads technical work and provides strategic direction across a range of initiatives aimed at waste reduction and the promotion of circular economy practices.
A mechanical engineer by training, Afrah brings experience in environmental systems, civil society engagement, and governance. He currently serves on the Restoration Trust Fund of Maldives and has contributed to several local and regional initiatives.
Afrah’s work emphasises practical problem-solving, systems thinking, and evidence-based decision-making, particularly in projects that serve the broader public interest.
As a member of ORP’s Research Ethics Committee, Afrah helps ensures that all our initiatives with sea turtles and marine ecosystems is conducted responsibly, safely, and ethically.
