Meet Claire, Named for Two of the Three ORP Turtle Vets!
Claire, a newly hatched baby green turtle, was found on the beach on Finolhu Island. Baby Claire had presumably been attacked by a crow. Due to pain from a small cut on her left front flipper, she could not swim normally.

Her swimming improved after a few days of observation and pain medication. When she started to show interest in and diving for food, we decided to release her.
Turtle hatchlings take cover among floating sea grass when they enter the sea. Therefore, hoping to increase her chances of survival out in the open ocean, we made her a special life raft out of branches and sea grass on which we released her. Even if she was to become a part of natural selection, we hope that she will be able to avoid her initial faith and become the 1 survivor out of 1000 turtle hatchlings.
